The material seems to indicate this being a BT5 device, but can't see if it support any of the new features like longer range and higher throughput. Can you clarify this?

Hi, the 14585/6 support 5.0 core and supplemental - it does not currently support optional features of 5.0. There are different solutions coming which will support the optional features of 5.0 (and more). The 14585/6 is more targetted to the simpler peripheral applications where the optional features of 5.0 aren't typically required today : to provide those on the 14585/6 would have cretead a cost/power penalty.
