Unable to connect to DA14531 chip

Hi,

We are able to scan the ssid for the DA14531 chip but never able to connect. On the software side, it doesn't even get to the "connect" callback. Hardware design-wise we followed the exact same design as in the eval kit.

Also this same software project works pretty well with the eval kit, so we don't think there is any bug on the software side. However what is weird is that when we connect to our prototype board instead of the eval kit , we are never able to connect. But since we are able to scan the ssid everytime even with the prototype board we think even the hardware design should be correct.

So can you suggest what can we try/change on hardware or software to make this work ?

Thanks !

Hi There,

Hi There,

Thanks for your question and for your interest in our DA14531 BLE solution. It seems that is a HW related issue, so I would recommend first checking your antenna and your XTAL32M. Did you trim the XTAL32M?

For details on layout guidelines and component selection it is advised to check the Application NoteAN-B-075available on the Dialog website.

In that document you can find Recommended Operating Conditions as well as the trimming procedure.

Can I ask if your custom board is adverting correct?

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Thanks for your response. Yes

Thanks for your response. Yes the custom board is advertising correctly. Also we have connected the XTAL crystal (XRCGB32M000F1H00R0) and the RF antenna (M830520) exactly as in the eval kit (please check attachment for our schematic on these connections). So can you check if these connections look correct.

Also for XTAL32M trimming, can we just try tweaking the value of xtal_trim_value (in sdk/platform/utilities/otp_cs/otp_cs.c) during the calibration from software (from its default value of 128 to something else), without having to measure the RF frequency ?

Thanks!

Hi kynyx,

Hi kynyx,

Regarding the crystal trimming, you should run the prod_test firmware (6.0.14.1114\projects\target_apps\prod_test\prod_test) and then use the RF Master from the SmartSnippets Toolbox.

Please see section 24.1.4 from the user guide – link is provided below :

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-B-083/tools/RfMaster.html

You should also use a frequency counter tool, so that you can decide which is the best trimming value.

After that, you can change the default value in the arch_system.c file. Please check DEFAULT_XTAL32M_TRIM_VALUE_QFN and DEFAULT_XTAL32M_TRIM_VALUE_WLCSP macro which hold the default trimming values.

Finally, you can apply the correct trimming values in the OTP Configuration Script too.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

for DA14531 , just P0_5 can

DA14531,只是P0_5可以用于修剪?I can't find the P0_5 trimming function in the datasheet. can I use other Pin?

Thanks.
