Bluetooth SIG certifications requirements (design on DA14681)

Hello,

We are currently developping a product for a customer based on DA14681 SoC.
Software is designed by an other company.

We would like to know what certifications have to be passed to Bluetooth SIG in the following scenarios:

1) Product will be sold without mention of Bluetooth logo or name => No Bluetooth certification needed ?
2) Product will be sold with mention of Bluetooth logo and/or name:
2.a) The product should be declared to Bluetooth SIG, right ?
2.b) As we are using DA14681 SoC which is already qualified (but in a custom product), not following the ref design for the Antenna (everything else follows the ref design), do we have to pass the qualification ? Or using the DA14681 allows us not to have to pass the qualification with Bluetooth SIG ?
2.c) If we design a new product following completely the ref design (including the Antenna), do we need to pass the qualification with Bluetooth SIG ?

Thanks for your answers.

Hi converti,

Hi converti,

In order to sell, brand or rebrand a product using any of the Bluetooth trademarks (including the word "Bluetooth") you must complete the Bluetooth qualification and declaration process in order to demonstrate and declare that your product satisfy the requirements of the Bluetooth license agreement. For more information please follow the link belowhttps://www.bluetooth.com/develop-with-bluetooth/qualification-listing

The 68x family provides the QDIDs in order skip the qualification procedure, for the Host, Controller and Profiles part since its an allready qualified design, if, those parts are used as is. Please check below the links for the QDIDs of the 68x family:

https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=33903

https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=33904

https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=28997

Also regarding the Antenna that you mention, this is a seperate certification that doens't have to do with Bluetooth qualification.

Please check the link provided above, the SIG provides detailed information regarding the certification and qualification of a product.

If you are designing a

If you are designing a product that you are going to sell or market in your own name then you need to complete the Declaration process, you will also need to purchase a Declaration ID from the Bluetooth SIG, to do this you must be a Bluetooth SIG member and have signed the two license agreements covering use of the logo (which is optional) and the use of Bluetooth IP.

如果您正在使用组件设计中,基于“增大化现实”技术e already qualified then you can inherit the qualification status in your own design without the need to repeat any -C (Conformance) test cases. For RF/RF-PHY tests, if you have followed a reference design then again you can leverage the test results, however if your own design deviates then its worth doing some form of assessment to determine if the changes have will any possible affect on the compliance of the design. Placing the reference design on your own PCB may also affect RF performance so you may wish to perform some verification tests to ensure compliance is met.

Regarding the antenna, as part of the qualification the maximum output power of the design is specified, you should make sure that the antenna you use is equal to or less gain than the reference design, this will make sure you don't exceed any regulatory output power requirements.

I have a short guide available if you want some information.
