Is XTAL 16MHz and 32KHz A must?

On datasheet, I saw there is RC16 and RC32. SO is it a must to use the XTAL?

Which UM should I refer to regarding to the use of OSCs

Many Thanks,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Hi Aaron,

The use of a 16MHz XTAL is mandatory. The 32kHz XTAL can be omitted if you use the device in buck mode.

Hi achao1104,

Hi achao1104,

Please check the datasheet for more info on the power management of the da.

Hi Dialog,

Hi Dialog,

MarkDC above states that "The 32kHz XTAL can be omitted if you use the device in buck mode" which seems to imply that the 32kHz crystal is required in boost mode. Is this correct, or can the 32kHz crystal be omitted in either configuration?

Brian.

Hi briand,

Hi briand,

Yes, if buck mode is used then the external XTAL32 can be ommited, but in boost mode the XTAL32 is required, this is also documented in the datasheet and also you will be able to find a detailed explanation in the FAQ's section in the Hardware & Peripherals section.

Thanks MT_dialog
