PAN1740 DSPS on Windows Environment

Dialog Support Team,

When using DSPS profile on PAN1740, will the Module be detected as "Bluetooth -Virtual COM Port in Device Manager after pairing?

If answer is NO, what are the driver needed to be enable into the firmware in order to enable this?

The PAN1740 has to be see as Virtual Com Port in Windows Environment, so we can dump our data from module to the a interface program running in Windows.

Hi ngchinping,

Hi ngchinping,

Your pan should be seen by your windows OS as a USB Serial Port. In that virtual serial port you can open a terminal and type the characters you want in order to be transfered to the DSPS android application. Its reads data from the PAN's uart and transfer them over ble. Please have a look at the DSPS application note (UM-B-038).

Since you say should be seen by Windows as Virtual Com Port, then I just want to make sure of the how? What drivers or interface, or protocol.

我需要一个确认,因为这些另一个论坛thread discuss about problem & issue to pair with Windows PC.

Hi ngchinping,

Hi ngchinping,

Your windows machine should automatcally detect the ftdi chip on the board and install the drivers as soon as you connect the device. Are you using the pro kit with a pan daughter board or a pan dongle. In case you are using a pro kit you can check the doc UM-B-034 Bluetooth Smart Development kit - Pro document in section 4 (installation of tools and drivers) for information about the FTDI driver.

Thanks MT-dialog,

Thanks MT-dialog,

We already have all the tools & drivers installed & they all work fine.

We already develop firmware base on DSPS profile.

Now the question is will the PAN1740 Module with DSPS profile can be detected as " Bluetooth Virtual Com Port" in Windows PC after pairing?

Your response to our questions talks about FTDI driver & etc did not answer our question.

Hi ngchinping,

Hi ngchinping,

The PAN will not be seen as a "Bluetooth Virtual Com Port" by the windows OS it will be seen as a simple USB serial port.
