about the antenna design

Hi, can anyone help me figure out the question below.
I am reading the application note AN-B-027, there are 4 types of antennas on it, 3 of which are for multiple layer and the other 1 is for single layer. My question is the antenna for single layer board, Can I add a ground plane on the bottom layer? Will this make my board be 2 layer board,then I cannot use single layer antenna example?

no sorry. You can not apply a ground plane under the antenna pattern.
Also no copper-tracks or components should be placed under the antenna area.
The antenna area must be copper free to let the antenna radiate freely.

Anything here will influence the antenna radiation performance negatively.
