I posted this question under another thread, so I opened a new thread. I would like suggestions for SPI EEPROMs for Booting. The previous thread only listed I2C
Hello Wesley, : sorry for delay in responding. I'll check into that as right now we've only qualifeid the i2C EEPROM and i2c/SPI FLASH. Do you have a particular series or manufacturer in mind and then we can check if it is suitable ? Best regards, JE_Dialog
I bought a AT25DN011 from ADESTO which seems not to be different from the Winbond you chose. And it does not work, i.e. I am not able to burn/erase anything on the external flash.
You will have to modify and rebuild the project flash_programmer.uvproj to reflect the Flash and page size of your specific Flash. The AN-B-023 document in the resources tab of this site specifies the details (section 6.1 specifically).
Please let me know if this works. And I would appreciete the details of the modifications you made to the code. I am hoping to be able to collect information from all sorts of Flash types and add them to the app note.
I will do that. But it could be a good idea to add support for SPI Flash that can be easily purchased. The Winbond reference is not available from Radiospares/Farnell/Mouser
I completely agree. We had to weigh a lot of parameters up against eachother. We needed a flash chip that was small, energy efficient and cheap. As I mentioned, we are hoping to be able to provide a table of flash eeproms that can be used. The Winbond flash is the one used on our BASIC devkit.
Hello hrg, thankyou. We have not had a chance to test all the different FLASH memory : i can suggest that yes, on paper, if it has identical specs and format, it should work, but you will need to test that thoroughly.

Hello,
Is the SPI EEPROM M950x0 from ST suitable for the DA14580?
Thanks.
Matthieu
Dear Matthieu,
Thank you for your interest.
目前,只有following memories are supported (see page 21 of the application note below):
Memory type Name Memory size Page size
SPI W25X20CL 256 kB 256B
SPI W25X10CL 128 kB 256B
I2C M24M01-R 128kB 256B
In case, you really want to use the SPI EEPROM M950x0, please let me know and I will ask the design team if we can implement it.
You should have a look at this memories application note:

Hope this helps,
best regards,

Is Atmel AT25M01 or Microchip 25AA1024 suitable instead of winbond SPI EEPROM.??
Thankyou
Hello hrg, please see table 7 and 8 in the following document for supported memory.

The availability of Winbond chips are rare ,so will Atmel SPI flash substitues it ?> because both seems to be same in configuration !
