Inductor Requirements

I am looking for the requirements for the DCDC inductor - the datasheet is light on details. Can you provide additional details? The reference designs include 0603 but I need smaller so want to make sure the inductor I spec is appropriate.

I am running from a primary lithium cell, so running buck.

Ideally, we could go as small as possible, but 0402 would be a big space gain on 0603.

Was there ever any resolution on this matter? What should we look for in an inductor if we are interested in replacing the 0603 with a smaller one?
