GPIO current rating

Hello,

I am connecting a RGB led to DA14531 and I have been looking for the maxmum output ratings in the datasheet with no luck.
In the dev-kit a 180 ohm resistor used. At 3 V this will be around 18 mA.
What is the limit for each gpio pin and it there a total limit?

Hi Morten Christesen,

Hi Morten Christesen,

Thanks for your question online. Please see Table 17: Digital Pad - DC Characteristics from theDA14531 Datasheet.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Thanks, but I have been

Thanks, but I have been looking at that table and I am not sure what to make of it. Can you please explain what the limit is for a gpio pin and if there a total limit.
当在mind that V.bat is 3,3V and am going to drive a RGB led. As far as I can see it is not possible drive a led directly from the DA14531, but it is done in the dev-kit. so I must be missing something.

Thanks

Hi Morten Christesen,

Hi Morten Christesen,

The Table 3 in section 3.1 of the datasheet demonstrates the absolute maximum ratings for the DA14531? Could you please let me know if the “limiting voltage on a pin” is what you are asking for?

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Hello, again.

Hello, again.

I am looking for the maximum mA that I can source form a GPIO pin in order to power a LED.
Thanks

Hi Morten Christesen,

Hi Morten Christesen,

I asked this internally and the max mA that you can source form a GPIO pin is 4-5mA. If you will source more than 5mA, then the voltage will rapidly drop. You could use a MOSFET to cute the high current.

Thanks, PM_Dialog
