Dear Dialog Support,
using the SDK6 of the MultiSensor DK, I notice that the fusion data is transmitted with the correct absolut orientation. With SDK5 of the IoT Sensor DK, this does not seem to be the case. The starting orientation does not seem to take into account the magnetometer data.
I found information regarding the AHRS in UM-B-101. Is this new in the SDK6 SmartFusion Library, and was not yet present in the one of SDK5?
Besst regards
Johannes

Hi gme_johannes,
Many thanks for your question. Let me check it and I will respond you as soon as possible.
Thanks, PM_Dialog
Hi gme_johannes,
The 585 Multi Sensor Kit has lot of new features and improvements which were not included in the 583 IoT. For new designs we strongly suggest the usage of the 585 MSK.
Thanks, PM_Dialog
Hi PM_Dialog,
so, the answer is, the 583 IoT does not use the magnetometer for absolute orientation? It would be go to know, since we have a few prototypes based on 583 IoT which we would still like to use for some tasks.

Hi gme_johannes,
Can you please clarify what you are trying to accomplish? As far as I can understand, currently you have custom boards which are running the 583 IoT, don’t you? To do so, your requirement is to extend the capabilities of the 583 MSK by adding some 585 MSK new features? Or you are planning to create a new custom board with 585?
Thanks, PM_Dialog
Hi PM_Dialog,
we have developed our own boards, our development cycle:
1st proto based on IoT Sensor kit (SDK5) using Murata ZY (DA14580)
2nd proto based on MultiSensor kit (SDK6) using Inventek ISM14585
我们给第一批原型应用发展pers to work with the (quaternion) motion data. We noticed that the SDK5 fusion library does not seem to provide absolute orientation on initialization, while the SDK6 fusion library does.
I just want to verify whether this observation is correct, an that I am not missing anything.
It will mean that we can not give our first prototypes to developers, since absolute orientation (using magnetometer data) is required in the application.
