Dear Support Team,
We are working on a design with a DA14580, using with the proximity keil project with SDK 3.0.6 in debug mode (not OTP).
It is working fine when we undefine CFG_EXT_SLEEP. We can see advertisement data.
When we want to use extended sleep mode, we define CFG_EXT_SLEEP and we see that the DA14580 stops advertising after 3 advertising packets (measured with an RF analyzer and a BLE sniffer). We have enabled the XTAL_32K low power source clock.
We also measured the power consumption : we can see the three burst at ~5mA, then we have a consumption of about 0.5mA, so we don't go to extended sleep mode.
What are we doing wrong ? How can we explain the advertising stopping after three bursts ? We have done the 16MHz crystal trimming procedure as per AN-B-020_v1.3 and the crystal seems correctly trimmed.
Thanks for your support,
Best Regards
Hello Oscar,
I just compiled proximity as is (from SDK 3.0.6), downloaded hex to an expert kit through Smart Snippets (SPI/UART) and checked the power profiler. (no JLINK connected).
I can see it advertising for more than 3 advertising packets, and it also goes into extended sleep between packets.
Can you describe your set-up ? are you using a BASIC or EXPERT kit and do you have debugger connected ?
Thanks &BR

Sorry JE_Dialog,
I failed to indicate clearly what I'm using.
1) First, I tested the proximity (from SDK 3.0.6) with a Panasonic 1740 evaluation kit, and it works fine, the extended sleep mode is enabled, and the DA14580 advertises.
2) Now, I'm testing the DA14580 using the Panasonic 1740 module in a custom designed hardware, with extended sleep mode disabled, it works fine, but when it is enabled, we see only 3 advertising packets, and that's all.
The selected low power clock is XTAL32K

Hi Oscar, thanks : I'll ask Panasonic to address your question. BR JE_Dialog
嗨,奥斯卡·,
it is hard to say why it is working on the Evaluation Module, but not on the final application. Can you check the SW version on the Module and send us the schematic and layout towireless@eu.panasonic.com? Then we can review your application.
Best regards,
Ingo
嘿,Ingo,
thank you for your quick reply !
I just sent you an email with a detailed schematic and layout. I hope this will help you to solve the issue.
for the software version, it is marked on the top of the module:
