single layer printed IFA, 1 mm substrate

Hi

this antenna (single layer printed IFA, 1 mm substrate) is optimised for FR1 PCB substrate 1 mm thick. (AN_B-027 Designing Printed Antennas_dxf.zip)
how much changes do we need to have it on FR4 PCB with 0.4 or 0.6 mm thick.
or we can compensate by changes on the antenna design or matching pi network components.

please guide me in getting best performance at minimum power consumption.

If the thickness of the substrate changes then the antenna will be detuned, but the matching network can be used to tune again the antenna and have optimum performance. Let me ask you a few questions

  1. 一层德sign? Or a two layer design?
  2. What will be the final thickness of the pcb?
  3. Will the pcb have some enclosure?

1. pcb will be two layered (about antenna not sure)
2. final thickness will be 0.6 mm (rarely may goes to 0.4 mm)
3. yes it will have enclosure of around 1 mm thickness.

We need to run a simulation with the specific antenna and the changed parameters in order to give more precise answers. Although, we can only support the standard deliverables, so we won’t be able to run specific measurements

Yes, you are able to use the antenna from the proximity tag design but you should match it according to your PCB.
