Proximity Tag

Hi Dialog,

我想设计接近应用智慧h DA14585. So for reference, I looked at the smart tag rev. C.
While porting this design, should I make any changes, especially in the antenna region?
We are referring different tags built on 580 and noticed that antenna geometry is same as that of your smart tag reference design, but they have extended little bit. What are the deciding factors for that?

I am comparing the smart tag rev C antenna. For your reference, I have attached the antenna part of smart tag rev C. The green encircled one in the file is the extension I am talking about. So will this improve the range?
Also what is the ideal free space range for the antenna design used in Smart tag rev C. Please share any reference links on the design factors to consider for MIFA antenna type.(If available)

I dont think that you can take an antenna design and assume that by increasing the length of the antenna that it will increase also the range, if you would like to make that kind of change the RF enginner will have to properly redesign the antenna and apply the proper matching on the PCB itself and test if this will reach the range that you would like, in general RF design is quite tricky. The Smart Tag with the current antenna should reach about 20 meters in open space (the indication was from some preliminary tests and not a proper range test). You will be able to find antenna guidelines in the AN-B-027: Designing Printed Antennas file.

Thanks for the reply. Can you please provide the layout file of smart tag Rev C(.brd file) in lower Cadence version.
Presently our layout engineer is using Cadence 16.5 version and we were unable to open the reference layout file due to version compatibility issue.
Also can you please specify what the PCB thickness should be so that the antenna works perfectly.

You will be able to find all the info for the reference design PCB in the DA14580_RD_WLCSP_SMTAG2_vC.pdf file in the Smart Tag v2_revC_HW_DesignFiles file that is uploaded on the support site including the PCB thickness on slide 12. Regarding the .brd files you are looking for they are also in the Design files zip file that is uploaded on the support site.

Thank you for the reply. I found all the necessary design files from the support site including the layout file(.brd extension). The problem is our layout engineer is unable to open the file in Cadence 16.5. There seems to be version compatibility issue.

So, please can you do anything regarding this.

是的有一个compabilty问题之间的版本ns of Cadence if you have a 16.5 you wont be able to open it since i 've checked with the hw team and let me know that they are using the 16.6 version, so i suppose that what you can do is upgrade the Cadence version.

We are developing the proximity tag with DA14585, Can u share reference circuit.
In the DA14585 Development board ARM controller is used to communicate with PC, Can i replace the this circuit using the J link emulator.

1 (Vtref) → A7 (Vdd)
7 (TMS) → D1 (SWDIO)
9 (TCK) → C1 (SWCLK)
