Hi,
I just started to make some tries with a PAN1740 module and the ConnectionManager 3.0.6
Other Versions:
HCI Version 6.0706
LMP Version 6.0706
Host Version 6.0708
I use Win7 64bit.
I loaded the Firmware full_emb.hex like described in the PAN1740 Application Note.
I used Boot Peripheral and see the device on my Nexus 7 with Android 4.4.4
When I click on pairing, the Connection Manager crashes with out any further message (only "Connection Manager stops working")
I tried to start the App as User and as Admin.
How can I try a simple connection to Android?
Are there tools (which do not crash) or Android Apps connecting to a sample?
Many thanks in advance.
Hello lawatsch, i will ask the Pansonic team to respond to your question.

Hello Iawatsch, currently the connection manager is the simplest demo we can provide. But there will be a demo app for the serial port service available soon. Take a look under Ref designs. There you can download the SPS.
Best regards,
Ingo
I have a similar problem:
- PAN1740 module is connected to a Windows 7 PC
- In the Connection Manager boots up a peripheral fine (with the default firmware)
- Host PC (another) has Broadcom BCM 20702 BTLE USB dongle installed
- The host sees PAN1740 and is ready to pair.
- The Connection Manager crashes when I send a pairing request from the host
Another problem:
- I have a compiled SPS firmware hex (working) but when I tried to load it via the Connection Manager nothing happened
- The firmware works if uploaded by Smart Snippets but I don't see how can I pair there
So my question:
- how can I upload the new SPS profile/firmware into the 1740 and pair it with the host PC?
I am a bit newbie to the project so your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Imalamoud, you could use the proximity reporter example instead. There you have a profile already inside. Maybe the Broadcom stack expects this and that causes the connection manager to crash.
Another problem: You need to use e.g. Hyperterminal on both sides if you want to connect two PAN1740 from one PC to the other.
Have a nice Christmas time and happy new year,
Ingo
我们有同样的问题。When we use Connection Manager and boot our DA14580 as peripheral, start advertising, connect from a remote device and request bonding from the remote device, Connection Manager crashes (something with an error in the hci_lib.dll file).
I notice that the last message in the log before crashing is a message with msg id GAP_BOND_REQ_IND but the name of the message according to RW-BLE-GAP-IS is GAPC_BOND_REQ_IND. Can that be the cause of the crash?
Hello Ingo,
Thank you for your reply.
It does not look that it depends on the host dongle. We tried both Broadcomm and Qualcomm Atheros. Same result. I also tried to load SPS firmware from the Dialog example.
GAP_BOND_REQ_IND arrives at the Connection Manager and it crashes.
If I run the SPS example with Keil it runs fine and DSPS sample Android app can exchange data. But how to pair with the dongle in Keil? Same for the Smart Snippets.
Our requirement is to obtain measurement data from a remote module and process it in Windows. We considered SPS as the most suitable profile. Any other profile you could recommend?
Hello Ingo,
Another question: Suppose we would like to manufacture pairs device-dongle based on PAN1740 ourselves. They would use SPS or cable profile.
How do we program pairing in pairs during production? It could be not rigid pairing as well.
Hello Imalamoud, the connection manager is not thought to run with the DSPS profile. You need to use a Hyperterminal. It is decribed how to pair in the UM-B038 you can fin under ref Designs here in the site. It also works with the PAN1740 USB dongles.
Regarding programming I understand you want to program paralel two PAN1740 at the same time, or do I misunderstand?
Hi,
I am using Connection Manager tool for RF testing of DA14583, Where it carshes once the firmware is loaded and i press to "Boot Test Mode", due to this my complete system also get's restarted.
Can you please help me out here, also would like to have latest connection manager tool to avoid this crashes.
Hi Bimalsinh,
连接管理器年代oftware is obsolete, the functionallity of the RF testing is now embedded in the Smart Studio Toolbox, in a new tool called RF master, you will have to build the prod_test fw yourself with the 583 option and download it in the 583 in order to be able to perform RF tests. I suppose that the reason why your device crashes with the old "Connection Manager" is that because the prod_test fw that the tool is downloading it might be build for the 580 and not the 583, since you can't even download the fw.
Thanks MT_dialog
Hi MT,
No, i am able to download the firmware of DA14583, But this carsh issue happens several time inbetween. Once i uninstall and install it it works good.
顺便说一下,这将是好的如果你可以指导我,from where i can download this latest RF Master tool, for DA14583 RF testing.
Hi Bimalsinh,
The new tool is located in the Software and tools section, in the tools tab, Download the SmartSnippets studio suite (SmartSnippets_Studio_v1.6.3 for Windows or LInux) and along with the Eclipse IDE the Smart Snippets Toolbox will be installed along. The tool has a few functionalities and one of them is the RF Master tool which replaced the Connection Manager.
Although the Connection Manager should also be working with this, at least on my side i dont see any issues with the 583, you mean the "Connection Manager" crashes ?
Thanks MT_dialog
