Chip antenna with DA1468x

Hi,

We're considering using a small chip antenna (Johanson 2450AT07A0100, 50 ohm impedance, return loss 6.5 dB,https://www.johansontechnology.com/datasheets/antennas/2450AT07A0100.pdf) with the DA1468x on our custom board. Do you have any reference designs or documentation regarding using a chip antenna with the DA1468x?

Thank you,
David

Hi david_33021,

Hi david_33021,

有一个芯片天线的信息in the IoT Sensor Reference Application document (UM-B-064_DA14583_IoT_sensor_reference_application_1v0). Here they used a Johanson 2450AT18A100 chip antenna with a 9.5dB return loss. We designed a custom board and used this antenna and had no issues at all. Hope this is helpful.

Hi david_33021,

Hi david_33021,

We haven't used this antenna for any 68x design, but we have used a similar antenna in the IoT reference design (a 583 design) as mjr3vk indicates, you will be able to find the relevant info on this in the reference design section on the support portal at the DA14583 IoT Sensor Development Kit in the UM-B-063.pdf.

Thanks MT_dialog

Hello!

Hello!

Can i use the same antenna for DA14580 ? Or is there any ref design for DA14580 i could check?

thank you!

Hello vrabo,

Hello vrabo,

You can use a chip antenna that is designed for a 50 Ohm matching and for 2.4GHz frequency spectrum. However, we wouldn't recommend a chip antenna with a DA14580 because of performance. Instead you can use a PCB antenna which is having a better performance in transmission and reception. We provide a reference for how to design a PCB antenna in our application notes "AN-B-027_Designing Printed Antennas for Bluetooth Smart V1.0" and we also provide the DXF files in the support portal. Please review these before considering other options. Here is the URL for the DA14580 and look under Application Notes.
