Hi liyang,

Hi liyang,

The effective range of your device depends on the antenna that you are using, also you can have a look at the Range Extender module on the reference design section that combines the 580 with an external PA.

hi,MT_dialog:

hi,MT_dialog:

As you say, The effective range of my device depends on the antenna. So did the software make no difference to the The effective range ?

if I use Ceramic antenna , how long is the distance? Is 10m is ok ?

Thanks ,liyang

Hi liyang,

Hi liyang,

Yes, the range of the device doens't depend on the sw (unless you decide to operate under near field mode in case you ve wanted a shorter range). The range of a ceramic antenna (as far as we have tested) could work in a range of about 25 - 30m (assuming that is correctly soldered).

Is the "a range of about 25 - 30m " can be scaned or can be connected ?

Thanks liyang.

Hi liyang,

Hi liyang,

To be more exact the distance that i ve mentioned is the expected range from the IoT reference design that uses a ceramic antenna, and you will be able to connect at about 25 meters. In general i can't give you a general estimation how long the range of any ceramic antenna will be since it depends on the radiation pattern of the antenna, the characteristics of the antenna the placement of the antenna on the PCB etc. You can't estimate the range of an antenna just by the type of the antenna.
