About Figure 12 in datasheet

Dear All,

If I don't use DC-DC converter, can I let SWITCH, VDCDC and VDCDC_RF not connected?

And why 32.768kHz crystal is optional while using 3V power supply?

Is it optional if I use 2.5V as power supply?

Hi daniel59,

Hi daniel59,

Please check the following post if you choose to bypass the DCDC converterhttp://support.dialog-semiconductor.com/disable-buck-converter

When operating in boost mode you switch the power supply of the RCX between 3.0V and 1.8V when you fall asleep. The frequency of the RCX is depended on the voltage, so when you fall asleep you ve allready know how many cycles of RCX you will sleep when operating under 3V but not how many cycles you will sleep if operating in 1.8V.

When you are operating at 2.5V you should be under buck mode so yes, the XTAL is optional and the RCX can be used.

Hi MT_dialog,

Hi MT_dialog,

I read the text in the link.

So bypass the converter will cause bad power efficiency but save a little bit of power consumption and start-up time. Is it correct?

And the best environment for DA working is using the converter?

Hi daniel59,

Hi daniel59,

What that post implies is that the power efficiency is bad and if you follow this configuration you can save some power at start up by setting the corresponding registers to the corresponding value but it will work with the prefered settings configuration of either BOOST or BUCK mode.

是的,建议使用580年的反对verter from a power consumption perspective if your design alows you to (pcb area, cost, power consumption).

Hi MT_dialog,

Hi MT_dialog,

One question about quartz watch movement asking for your help.

I know the movement use SR626SW as battery, and I searched on the Internet says that the voltage of this battery is 1.55V to 0.9V.

So can I use VDCDC as the movement power?

Hi daniel59,

Hi daniel59,

I dont get the question exactly to be honest, but if you want to use the DCDC converter in order to power other circuits or modules that isn't possible, the DCDC converter can only be used by the 580 and not from external devices.

Thanks MT_dialog

Hi MT_dialog,

Hi MT_dialog,

So the VDCDC can not be used as an 1.41V power?

Hi daniel59,

Hi daniel59,

The DCDC converter is design to power only the 580, you cant use it to power other devices.

Thanks MT_dialog
