Is there a simple way to verify that the programming on a particular chip matches the project that is currently opened?

Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, there is a way. Please go to tools -> Comaprison in the Designer SW, you will find the comparison tool. This will check all the program bits, design revision and lock status.
