frequency modulator
Posted bydanmalper0 points 6 repliesHello
I would like to use greenpack designer to design a simple frequency modulator similar to a FM or VCO, to be able to obtained a frequency output relationships with a voltage signal from input. What kind of model device should I use? and are there any example to this propose?
Thank you very much.

Hello Pavlo
Thank you very much, I think it is that I am lookig for.
I am new using this software and I dont know why it is not possible use the Software Simulation included in "Debug". I attach image from the reply when I tried.
Thank you again

Hi Daniel,
sorry for that confuse but there is no simulation available for SLG46140 yet. You can try to move this design example to SLG46620 and run simulation.
Thanks and regards,

Thank you very much Pavlo,
I would like to obtain an output that increases the frequency when the input amplitude increases and, do you know if this prototipe is able to do that?

Hi Daniel,
this design example converts voltage level to some frequency.
To answer your question I need more input specs e.g. input voltage range, input change speed(ramp or frequency), output frequency range, output duty cycle or pulse width etc.
Thanks and regards,

Hello Pavlo,
In principle I will use:
-variable inputs, sinusoidal type with a voltage range between 0 and 6 volts.
-The frequency of these signals will vary between 0 and 4 Hz.
-The range of the output signals does not matter to me at first, since then I could use an amplifier at the output, but if the frequency, I want it to vary between 0 and 60 Hz (e.g. 0 Volts to 6 Volts).
-The output pulse width could be up to 0.1 seconds.
It is only a aproximation, any circuit that transforms higher voltage to higher frecuency and vice versa could be help to me.
The circuit Contr_voltage_osc is ok but transform smaller amplitud to higher frecuency and when the input amplitud is increasing the output frecuency is falling. I am looking for the opposite behaviour.
Thank you very much for everything, you are being very helpful since I am introducing in greenpack.
Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
please see attached simple example of VCO. This topic will be included into GPAK Cookbook soon.
Input voltage converted to digital code by ADC and send to Couner/FSM which generate frequency depend on control code.
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks and regards,
Pavlo
